It’s time once again for the 38th Annual NC Seafood Festival! This delicious event is just another reason to choose one of the Beau Coast West homes in Beaufort NC, giving you easy access to the wide variety of festivals and more located in and around this charming coastal town.

The NC Seafood Festival takes place the first full weekend in October along the Morehead City waterfront. This year it runs from October 4-6, 2024. Since its inception in 1987, the non-profit festival has served as a fun and delicious way to learn about and honor the fishing fleets and local seafood industry that bring fish and shellfish to tables, markets and restaurants.

Now, along with the opportunities to taste the variety of seafood, visitors enjoy entertainment that includes two music stages with performers throughout the festival, games and rides for kids’, cooking demonstrations and tastings, and the opportunity to buy from more than 200 vendors and artisans, highlighting the local seafood and other NC-produced food and beverage products, as well as a range of art, crafts and much more.

Entrance to the festival is free, but there are ticketed events and shopping opportunities. If you’re going with the kids or kids at heart, you may want to take advantage of Armband Friday, which lets you buy an armband for $30 for unlimited access to amusement rides on Friday, October 4th only. The festival will donate $5 from each purchase to the school of the purchaser’s choice.

The Port of Pours event returns this year on Saturday, October 5th. This ticketed event celebrates coastal craft breweries and offers both VIP and general admission experiences. Port of Pours attendees sip on unlimited craft brews while enjoying food, music and more!

The festival is an important way of helping everyone learn more about the hard work and the many risks involved in fishing. On Sunday morning, the annual Blessing of the Fleet takes place, recognizing the many who have given their lives in their occupation.

This is the largest three-day festival in North Carolina and a wonderful way to experience one of the many features that makes the Carolina coast so appealing. Take your appetite – and some chairs or blankets to relax and enjoy the music – and embrace the local food and fishing culture. From the Flounder Fling to the fireworks Saturday night, there’s no shortage of friendly fun at this special festival.
